The current sitaution in elevator management
There are currently around 750,000 elevators in Germany, and the number is rising. Due to a shortage of building space, commercial, office and residential buildings are increasingly being built at heights, which is why efficient and trouble-free elevator systems are becoming more and more important. However, the administrative effort for elevator operators is immense and, in addition to often decades of storage of complex circuit diagrams and other documents, more and more know-how and trained personnel are required.
In addition, the trend to buy at the lowest price is fostering a fierce price war among suppliers. This is accompanied by the risk that the systems will no longer be adequately maintained. However, these services are the really lucrative part of the elevator business, because only long-term maintenance contracts ensure high profit margins for suppliers.
Digital solutions in elevator management
IoT technologies enable fully digital monitoring combined with on-demand maintenance in the area of elevator management. In addition, a 360° image of the elevator can be created with over 500 inspection points. With this image, maintenance companies can check what exactly needs to be repaired before it arrives. This allows them to better calculate how much time and staff are needed, as well as which tools are required.
Other providers offer solutions that digitize all relevant information relating to the elevator, e.g. maintenance contracts, TÜV, invoices, etc., and make them available at the push of a button. In addition, appointments for operational checks can be automatically assigned and monitored.
