Neighbourhood planning
Construction and planning processes
Tasks of neighbourhood planning
Quarters can be described as small cities within large cities or metropolises. Due to the comprehensive infrastructure of the quarters, their life takes place predominantly within the quarter. Neighborhoods are planned and implemented by construction companies in cooperation with local politicians and authorities. This is an attempt to achieve the long-term development goals (urban planning) of the municipalities and cities.
New quarters are large-scale urban projects with complex decision-making processes and numerous interfaces. Together with different decision-making levels, this makes for long decision-making phases. In addition to the planning of individual buildings, neighborhood planning requires above all good spatial planning and a functioning infrastructure concept (roads, mobility and energy supply).
Digitization of neighborhood planning
The digitization of neighborhood planning can be divided into two categories: digitized planning and the use/construction of digital elements. The former includes, above all, CityBIM, a BIM planning software that provides its users with modern 3D city models.
The digital elements include IoT applications in particular. For example, information about the fill levels of municipal waste garbage cans can be passed on (Smart Waste) or dew point information to local winter services. Other applications include traffic flow monitoring or the monitoring of water levels for cities on rivers.
