Building services equipment (BSE) comprises all technical systems installed in the building as well as technical systems outside that are used within a building. These include, for example, systems for building heating and domestic hot water, refrigeration systems, sanitary installations, the power supply and signalling and communication systems.

The refurbishment of existing buildings is playing an increasingly important role in technical building equipment alongside building equipment for new buildings. Here, the focus is on increasing energy efficiency, where requirements and service offerings are constantly evolving due to technical progress.

A milestone in the digitization of BSE is Building Information Management (BIM). Here, the complete planning, implementation and management is mapped as a digital data model. This allows potential difficulties to be identified and solutions to be developed even before construction begins. Delays are thus detected at an early stage and are therefore less severe.

Another trend is the intelligent networking of the respective trades in the technical building equipment. In the case of residential properties, we are talking about smart home services, e.g. smart radiators that can be activated while on the move. This is made possible by smart IoT sensors.
